Marko Viljanen

The owner of Wilma Group Oy is Marko Viljanen, whose entrepreneurial journey began back in 1996. Over the years, JM Tieto Oy, founded at that time, evolved into a successful expert services company providing customer-centric business solutions. Since the sale of the company in 2015, travel has become a significant part of Marko’s life. Spending 100–160 days a year traveling the world has taught him much about tourism, while also increasing his understanding and appreciation of Finland’s greatest travel assets: its purity, peace, and closeness to nature. Marko wishes to cherish these values at Mannilanniemi, where he spends his free time alongside his duties as the owner.

Sustainable tourism

Wilma Group is a truly carbon-negative company that makes meaningful and responsible investments. We have made significant investments in solar and wind power, among other things, which offset the annual carbon footprint of over 2,000 Finns.

Mannilanniemi offers an excellent setting on the shores of Lake Saimaa for vacations, hobbies, and the opportunity to combine leisure time and work thanks to fast fiber optic connections. You can rent a villa or holiday cottage from us for a few days to several months, or gather for a joint celebration with a larger group. In Mannilanniemi, we are committed to sustainable tourism, for example by using fossil-free electricity for both heating and general electricity.

Development project

We have launched a development project for Mannilanniemi, supported by EU rural funding through the Economic Development Centre of Eastern Finland (Itä-Suomen elinvoimakeskus).

During the spring of 2026, all lakeside cottages will be updated with new terraces and patios, complete with outdoor furniture and stylish Savorak piers with integrated lighting. Additionally, new outdoor hot tubs will be installed on the terraces of the Norppa and Kurki cottages.

These improvements allow us to extend the rental season, further enhance the guest experience, and increase the overall appeal of the area. The project also supports the local economy and community by increasing cooperation with regional entrepreneurs, reinforcing Mannilanniemi’s position as a key part of sustainable tourism in the Saimaa region.
